Critical Role began Campaign 4 with a West Marches-style approach, splitting the 13-player cast into three rotating tables: the Soldiers, Seekers, and Schemers. The Soldiers emphasized combat, the Seekers focused on lore and magic, and the Schemers ran narrative, sandbox-style, socially driven play.

After a recent convergence of tables, the latest episode, 'Trick of the Light', marks the end of that phase and a fresh reshuffle. The Seekers table now includes Occtis Tachonis (Alexander Ward), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Bolaire Lathalia (Taliesin Jaffe), Sir Julien Davinos (Matt Mercer), Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond), and Vaelus (Ashley Johnson).

Their immediate task is to investigate the Tachonises in Timmony and then travel to the Golden Orchard to meet Mara the Wing and others from the Cloak. The Schemers will remain in the city to counter the Sundered Houses and feature Murray Mag’nesson (Marisha Ray), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), Azune Nayar (Luis Carazo), and Halandil Fang (Liam O’Brien).
