At this year’s Summer Game Fest showcase, Sega revealed its fresh take on the stunt-racing arcade classic with a first look at Crazy Taxi: World Tour. The reboot was among five franchises announced at The Game Awards in 2023 alongside Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage; so far only Shinobi: The Art of Vengeance has arrived, released last August.

The new trailer presents a modernized version of the original’s San Francisco-inspired map. OG driver Alex returns and appears to face new rivals, while core gameplay remains familiar: pick up customers and drop them off as fast as possible. World Tour also adds playful new elements, including a fishing minigame and a passenger carrying dozens of pizzas.

Crazy Taxi began as an arcade game in February 1999 and came to the Dreamcast the following year, built around frantic, fast-paced runs with a rolling countdown or pre-set rounds of three, five, and 10 minutes, and extra cash awarded for stunts and near-misses.
