June arrived in a blur of train tickets, suitcases, book signings and half-finished cups of coffee. The publication of our fifth cookbook, Honey & Co Daily, stirred a mixture of delight, gratitude, nerves, excitement, exhaustion and, at times, mild panic. A book tour can feel glamorous from a distance, but in practice it involves early alarms, missed trains, unfamiliar hotel rooms and the constant worry that something important has been left behind — and that no one will show up.

Still, meeting readers, hearing which recipes have become family favourites and trading tips about quince or aubergines has felt like an incredible gift. Travel has also reminded us of a central idea in the new book: joy often lives in the smallest moments. A bag of cherries bought at a station market, the first coffee of the morning before a long day, a simple bowl eaten on the sofa after a week away — these ordinary instances sustain us.
