Colman Domingo's SNL Sketch Finds the Silly Side of Space Travel
Saturday Night Live turned the aftermath of the Artemis II mission into a comedy skit the day after the crew returned. On April 11 host Colman Domingo played an astronaut recording a Day 9 video log who wants to offer a heartfelt, inspiring message — but his shipmates keep barging into frame like a rogue Pringles can.
The sketch opens on a picture-perfect view of Earth through a tiny window with inspirational music playing as Domingo bobbed in zero gravity. Mikey Day, Marcello Hernández and Sarah Sherman interrupt repeatedly: an argument over floating chips breaks out, one astronaut has fallen asleep “un-Velcro’d,” and Domingo’s exasperated plea — “Whose Pringles are those?
Whose?” and “Someone stick her ass to the wall, please!” — only highlights the chaos. A sneezing mishap eventually nudges his character to embrace the absurdity, and he finishes with a simple three-word greeting.
