Collin Gosselin to expose 'dark' childhood in memoir
Collin Gosselin will publish a memoir titled "In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood" on Oct. 13, promising to expose "the shocking facade of his picture-perfect family." The book’s description says it will share the "never-before-told story of how [Collin] escaped and found his way back from the dark." The announcement adds, "This is a reckoning with the dark side of fame: the systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased." It says Collin will revisit "being held down, the basement cell where he was hidden for years and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an 11-year-old boy," and even teases a "Christmas morning where the gifts were reclaimed as soon as the cameras went down." The cover reportedly features a throwback photo of Kate Gosselin clamping her hand over Collin’s mouth.
The family starred on the TLC reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8," later rebranded to "Kate Plus 8" after the couple’s divorce, which ran from 2007 to 2017.
