Rich Keeble, the voice of Gestral warrior Monoco, said the response to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been surprising — and occasionally surreal. Fans have sent wedding invitations, called the game the "game of the decade" at conventions and even gotten tattoos.

The project’s awards haul, including BAFTA for Best Game, still hasn’t fully sunk in for him, and he admits the nerves in the recording booth haven’t entirely vanished. Keeble met some cast members, like Ben Starr, before recording, which he described as unusual.

As the game’s profile rose ahead of its launch, he grew nervous and asked Starr for his take; Starr warned it might not reach a Baldur's Gate 3–style audience, saying, "I think it'll do well, but I don't think it's going to be a Baldur's Gate 3-style movement." Keeble says Starr managed expectations the wrong way — the game became a phenomenon — and even a clip of Monoco’s introduction racked up over five million views within days.
