Christopher Nolan has a history of reshaping how audiences see big movies. From Batman Begins in 2005 to dense originals like Inception and Interstellar, he has built a reputation for ambitious filmmaking; Oppenheimer in 2023 proved talky, black-and-white drama can still draw huge crowds and hauled in nearly $1 billion worldwide, including more than $190 million from IMAX sales, roughly 20% of its total gross.

Nolan’s name alone has become a draw, and his next picture, The Odyssey, has prompted intense presale demand. Select theaters began selling IMAX screenings of The Odyssey a year in advance while the film was still in production, and those early showings sold out.

On June 4, 2026, tickets went on sale for premium large format presentations like IMAX 70mm, Dolby Cinema, and Prime at AMC; those first-day presales were the biggest for any major motion picture, PLF or otherwise, that AMC had seen since 2022. The Odyssey is the first movie to be shot entirely in IMAX.
