Chris Hemsworth has built his career on physically demanding, stunt-heavy roles, most recently playing the unhinged warlord Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). He will produce and star in a narrative feature about Australia’s Tatts Finke Desert Race. Wild State, the company Hemsworth co‑founded in 2022 with producer Ben Grayson, has an exclusive partnership with the race organizers to develop multiple projects; Ricky Staub and Dan Walser are attached to write the screenplay and the film is in early development.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is an off-road, multi-terrain, two-day competition for bikes, cars and buggies that runs from Alice Springs to the Aputula (Finke) community. Held each June over the King’s Birthday long weekend, this year’s event marks the 50th anniversary of the 1976 inaugural ‘There and Back’ run.

Wild State will also produce an unscripted docuseries to capture the race, teaming with freestyle motocross rider Robbie Maddison.
