Chip and Joanna Gaines list renovated 135-year-old Waco castle for $2.699M
Chip and Joanna Gaines have put their renovated 135-year-old Cottonland Castle in Waco back on the market, listing it in June 2026 for $2.699 million. They bought the property in 2019 after Chip had wanted it for more than 20 years, documented its restoration on Magnolia’s series "Fixer Upper: The Castle," and completed the renovation in 2022.
An auction held in July 2023 never closed, and the couple later reopened the house for tours before listing it again. The castle’s story reaches back to 1890, when initial construction was abandoned; a second owner left the property in 1908. Alfred Abeel purchased the site in 1913 and worked with architect Roy E.
Lane to finish a design inspired by German castles. It became a historical site in 1977 and fell into disrepair before the Gaineses acquired it. Set on less than an acre, the 6,176-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and a tower.
