Cheri Oteri reveals breast cancer surgery, praises support from Jill Biden
Cheri Oteri said on the Dear Chelsea podcast that she underwent breast cancer surgery after being diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). She recalled meeting former first lady Jill Biden at an April Milken Institute dinner that focused on women’s health and research.
Oteri told Biden of her diagnosis and that her surgery was 'the 26th.' Biden replied, 'All right, you're gonna get tired of me. I'm going through this with you.' Oteri described Biden as 'a woman with a huge heart' and said she checked on her before and after the operation.
Oteri shared that she had a second lumpectomy a few days before the podcast and that she feels 'great' and that 'everything looks normal, fine.' A lumpectomy is a surgery to remove a portion of tissue from a breast and is most often used to treat breast cancer, the Mayo Clinic notes.
