I hunt down cheap gaming laptop deals every month and have noticed prices rising across the board. Older 2025 machines had largely held their discounts earlier in the year, but recent checks show fewer bargains, smaller savings and industry-wide price increases that have pushed the reference prices themselves higher.

There are exceptions — the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16, for example, is cheaper than it was in March at $1,574.99 at Best Buy. Retailers sometimes list a 'Comparative Value' price rather than a manufacturer's MSRP. Best Buy explains its 'Comparative Value' as the price at which a product, or a comparable item, was (or in the future will be) offered for sale by Best Buy, marketplace sellers, manufacturers, suppliers, or other retailers, online or in-store.

That framing can make discounts look larger than they are, while other listings still show MSRPs that remain elevated.
