CD Projekt Red veteran explains Skellige's question marks
Skellige in The Witcher 3 is notorious among completionists for being both densely packed with question marks and often fruitless — including many out in the sea — making it hard to tidy the map. Between the isles and the Trial of the Grasses, it's hard to say which caused Geralt more pain.
Paweł Sasko, now associate game director of Cyberpunk 2 and previously lead quest designer on Cyberpunk 2077, has been with CD Projekt Red since The Witcher 3 days and worked as a more junior quest designer back then. He waded into a recent discussion among Polish fans about Skellige and replied to a post that a DeepL translation rendered as, "Couldn't they have crammed even more question marks into Skellige?" Sasko's response was blunt: "We tried," while a separate machine translation gave, "We tried, but it was no longer possible." The two renderings differ slightly, and the reply has a stark, almost rueful tone.
