CD Projekt Red wants more games without becoming an annual-release studio
CD Projekt Red co-CEO Michał Nowakowski says the studio wants to make more games, but not by turning into a developer that launches a major title every year. "Our dream is to be making more games, although we never want to turn into the studio that's going to be launching a big game every year," he told Edge's Knowledge newsletter, adding the company has a rough ten-year rolling plan and does not aim to grow by multiplying IPs.
The studio's upcoming slate illustrates that intent. The Witcher 3's Songs of the Past expansion is due next year, followed by The Witcher 4 and two sequels hoped to arrive within the following six years. Also in development are a Witcher 1 remake, a multiplayer spin-off, a Cyberpunk sequel and a new IP called Project Hadar.
Given the five-year gap between The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 and the decade-plus wait for a new Witcher game, CDPR's push for a steadier release cadence is understandable.
