CD Projekt has renamed the parent company to CD Projekt Red, folding the whole business under a single brand. "In the opinion of the Management Board, the new company name will ensure full brand consistency and facilitate the identification of the Company with its products on the global market," the company said in its resolution.

The change creates a new problem of clarity. For years the writer relied on a mnemonic rhyme to tell the studio and the parent apart: If CD Projekt Red you see, that's the folks who made The Witcher 3. If CD Projekt alone you view, that's the parent company. The rebrand now makes that rhyme obsolete—"How could Marcin Iwiński do this to me?" he quips.

There is a practical logic to the move. To many people CD Projekt already equals CD Projekt Red, and the studio's game-development projects draw more public attention than the broader corporate machinations.
