Cavill's Warhammer Role Must Repair His Unsatisfying Witcher Exit

As Season 5 nears its 2026 Netflix release, many view Henry Cavill's time as Geralt of Rivia as mishandled. He brought the character's gravity early on, but creative disagreements with the show's creators led to his exit after Season 3 and Liam Hemsworth stepping in for Season 4.

Cavill, a longtime fan of the novels, pushed for fidelity to the source material while producers favored new directions; the dispute extended to moments such as the treatment of Geralt's horse Roach. After rewriting scripts and ultimately leaving, the show suffered—Season 4 became the lowest-rated season and Netflix announced the series will end after Season 5.

Cavill has since taken on several projects and will be closely involved as an executive producer on a new fantasy TV series, giving him the chance to secure a role that fits his leading-man status. He is also attached to a live-action Warhammer 40K adaptation for Amazon Studios as a producer and performer, a long-held passion he has said he wants to shepherd carefully.
