Capcom is remaking Resident Evil: Code Veronica under the simpler title Resident Evil Veronica, with a first look shown at Summer Game Fest and a release window as early as 2027. Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi used a timeline video to stress how closely Code Veronica ties into the series: the game is set three months after Resident Evil 2 and follows Claire and Chris Redfield during a viral outbreak on Rockfort Island that unfolds alongside Raccoon City’s collapse in Resident Evil 3.

"It is as an entry in the series that is just as important as a numbered title," Hirabayashi said. The remake is being built by the same team that produced the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes. Hirabayashi was clear the game will remain third-person—"Only third-person.

There is no toggle, no switching." He also said Capcom will add new elements to deliver a fresh take on survival horror, expanding both the lore and the mechanics of the original.
