Capcom producer teases Resident Evil set in Japan
Masato Kumazawa, producer on Resident Evil Requiem, says a Japan-set Resident Evil "might make an appearance at some point in the future." He notes the development team is primarily based in Japan and that "every member has given it some thought." Resident Evil Requiem returned the series to Raccoon City and brought back Leon Kennedy, but fans have long imagined an entry set in Japan.
The piece points to the success of Konami's Silent Hill f as an example of how changing a franchise's location can still connect with players. Kumazawa emphasizes the studio would preserve the series' core elements.
