Can AI Drain DeFi? Separating Claude Mythos Hype From Reality
Anthropic introduced Claude Mythos-class models as its most advanced AI system for cybersecurity and initially limited access, which raised concern in crypto circles. The worry is straightforward: AI that speeds vulnerability discovery could let attackers find protocol flaws before security teams fix them.
DeFi is especially exposed because much of its code is public, protocols control large sums and many systems are relatively new. Advanced models can already review code, flag unsafe patterns and sometimes uncover issues in minutes that once took researchers hours or days.
Smart contracts lend themselves to this analysis because they are public and written in structured languages. Still, finding a flaw is not the same as executing a successful theft—exploits often require capital, coordination, market conditions and careful execution, and AI outputs can include many false positives.
