The California State Assembly has passed the Protect Our Games Act (AB 1921), Assembly Member Chris Ward said in a video posted on Stop Killing Games' YouTube channel; the floor vote was 43 to 16. The bill would require companies to provide 60 days' notice before ending support for games that rely on online servers.

Firms would also have to offer a way for owners to keep playing afterwards—such as an offline mode or community-server support—or provide refunds. Ward said the idea came from "a constituent in San Diego who is tired of seeing their games shut down after recent purchases." Stop Killing Games backed the measure; the movement gained momentum after Ubisoft announced it would de-list The Crew in 2024.
