Crypto exchange Bybit has added support for Western Union’s USDPT stablecoin, bringing the payments giant’s digital dollar onto a major trading venue for the first time. USDPT is now available on Bybit for holding, trading and transfers, expanding the token beyond payments and increasing the range of dollar-denominated stablecoins offered to users.

Bybit became the first major cryptocurrency exchange to support USDPT. Western Union launched USDPT in May as part of its broader digital asset strategy. The stablecoin is issued by Western Union Digital, backed by reserves held at Anchorage Digital Bank, and initially launched on the Solana blockchain.

Western Union has said the stablecoin is designed to align with the framework outlined in the US GENIUS Act. Stablecoins remain one of the fastest-growing segments of the digital asset market; DeFiLlama puts the total value of dollar-pegged stablecoins at nearly $320 billion.
