Kennet Eichhorn’s release clause, valid until 2029, is reported at €9 million, down from earlier figures of €12 million, with Champions League clubs able to trigger an even lower fee. Borussia Dortmund have withdrawn from talks after the player’s agents reportedly demanded a signing-on fee of more than €10 million, pushing his total cost toward €20 million.

The club’s internal view was clear: if Eichhorn prioritises his footballing development he should join Dortmund; if he values money more, he is in the wrong place at Borussia. That stance prompted the decision to abandon the pursuit. FC Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool remain interested.

Liverpool are already seeking a loan destination where Eichhorn could stay until he turns 18 because he is not permitted to work in a non-EU country. Sport Bild recently reported the midfielder would only accept a summer move to a regular Champions League club that could offer immediate first-team opportunities, ruling out short-term returns to Berlin or a season at a mid-table side.
