Bungie disables Marathon endgame mode Cryo Archive after revive bug

Bungie has disabled access to Cryo Archive after players discovered an exploit that left downed characters unable to be revived. The mode is a Destiny-like endgame raid added in Marathon Season 2 for a more intense PvP challenge and higher rewards.

"As a precaution while we investigate why some players can't be revived, we have disabled access to Cryo Archive," the Marathon Twitter account said. "We'll do our best to restore access as soon as we can figure out the issue and push out a fix."

Season 2 began last week and has been hit by several bugs that prompted multiple hotfixes; the Cryo Archive problem landed amid a free week aimed at bringing in new players. Community reaction has been sharp — "It's impressive how dysfunctional this game has been for season 2," a commenter on Reddit wrote.

Bungie is also managing the release of Destiny 2's final update, Monument of Triumph, while reports circulate that substantial layoffs are coming for the studio.
