Bruno Fernandes to stay at Manchester United despite Saudi interest
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has decided to remain at Old Trafford for at least one more year, despite lucrative interest from the Saudi Pro League and the prospect of a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo. TalkSPORT says he has told teammates and those close to him that he plans to stay, even though he did not hold formal talks with the club about his future before the World Cup.
He has one year left on his contract with a club-held one-year extension option; United officials are relaxed despite a €65 million release clause that applies to non‑English clubs. Interest from the Middle East is longstanding: Al‑Hilal, Al‑Nassr and Al‑Ittihad all approached last summer.
Fernandes was tempted by Al‑Hilal ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup but decided the best football and family decision was to remain in Manchester. Al‑Nassr remain keen to reunite him with his international strike partner Cristiano Ronaldo, and Portugal manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly in talks to take over the Riyadh club after the World Cup.
