Bruno Fernandes has acknowledged that his trophy haul at Manchester United has fallen short of what he expected when he joined Old Trafford. Despite lifting the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, the United captain said: "Obviously, I wanted to have won more; it wasn't quite what I had expected for myself and for the club.

... My goal has always been to win the biggest competitions, and the Premier League is part of it. And I still have that dream in me, and I hope to achieve it." United sealed a third-place finish after a strong second half of the 2025-26 campaign, securing a return to the Champions League for next season.

Fernandes stressed the importance of playing in Europe’s premier competition, calling it "the competition where you can play against the most important teams in the world" and saying he wants to "be at that level to play against the best and show that I can be at their level." Significant optimism at Old Trafford has come with Michael Carrick's arrival.
