The Brazilian FA has filed a formal complaint to FIFA after a controversial refereeing decision in their World Cup clash with Scotland, demanding that the match official never take charge of their games again despite a 3-0 victory. The contentious moment came in the 21st minute when Vinicius Jr dispossessed Jack Hendry and finished past Angus Gunn.

Referee Cesar Ramos initially pointed to the centre circle, but a VAR intervention saw the goal chalked off for a perceived foul in the build-up, prompting fury from Carlo Ancelotti’s side who argued the contact was minimal and did not meet the "clear and obvious" threshold for review.

CBF president Samir Xaud wrote to FIFA president Gianni Infantino contesting what he described as inconsistent officiating. The federation asked that Mexican official Ramos be removed from their future assignments in North America, citing a "negative history" that reached back to a 2018 group match against Switzerland.
