Brazil 3-0 Scotland: Vinicius Jr brace pushes Scots to brink
Vinicius Junior's brace helped Brazil to a 3-0 win over Scotland in Miami, a result that sealed top spot in Group C and leaves the Scots unlikely to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams. The first half was defined by three Scotland errors. Scott McKenna's charged-down clearance fell to Vinicius, who rounded Angus Gunn and finished into an empty net.
A later Vinicius effort was initially ruled out after VAR spotted contact on Jack Hendry, but the winger got his second in first-half stoppage time when he nodded home Bruno Guimaraes' deep cross following two failed clearances. Early in the second half Vinicius missed a chance to complete a hat-trick, but Matheus Cunha made it 3-0 on the hour after neat work from Guimaraes.
Alisson made two important saves to deny Scotland a response, while Vinicius spurned further chances as Brazil controlled the game. Individual ratings from Miami highlighted Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Junior at 8/10.
