Brandon Aubrey backs Harry Kane to become NFL kicker
Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who made the jump from professional soccer, says Harry Kane has the striking ability to succeed as an NFL kicker. Aubrey, fresh off a record $28 million deal that made him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history, praised the England captain’s technique and said Kane "has the talent" to make the switch.
Time, however, could be the main obstacle. Kane turns 33 in July and is reportedly discussing a potential contract extension at the Allianz Arena, while NFL teams often prefer younger specialists for kicking roles. Aubrey pointed to his own unconventional path as a blueprint: after being released from USL club Bethlehem Steel in 2018 he worked as a software engineer while training to kick, then took a chance in the experimental USFL before earning his shot with the Cowboys.
For now Kane’s priority remains the 2026 World Cup, where he is focused on leading Thomas Tuchel's England side.
