Roy Hernandez, Daveigh Chase’s boyfriend, set up a GoFundMe to help the actress "find comfort and peace" in her final days before her death on Tuesday. Hernandez described Chase as "a light in my life," noting she was known for roles in Lilo & Stitch, Spirited Away and Donnie Darko while saying she had "faced more than her share of hardship." He said their lives changed when Chase was diagnosed with meningitis and several "serious" blood infections.

"Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left," Hernandez wrote, adding he wanted to give her "that sense of home and peace in her final days." The campaign had raised $325 of its $5,500 goal at the time of the report.

Hernandez asked for donations or prayers, writing, "If you can only give a prayer, I will take that too." Chase, 35, died Tuesday after meningitis and blood infections caused her body to become septic and shut down. The report said she had been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month due to malnutrition.
