Blizzard splits the difference on Diablo 4 Mythics
Blizzard has partly reversed course on changes to Diablo 4's Mythics that appeared in a recent playtest and were due to go live in next week's Season of Death Awakened. The studio says the fundamentals of the updates are necessary to foster build diversity long-term, but it has softened several of the PTR's more drastic proposals after player backlash.
Despite a flashy season reveal—complete with an Overwatch collaboration, endgame activity and a Warlock free trial—discussion has centered on the Mythic changes. Under the updated plan, Mythics remain charged-up Uniques and any Unique can still be converted into a Mythic at the Horadric Cube.
Mythics will now have two guaranteed bonuses and two random ones; one of the random stats can be re-rolled through the Enchantress in town. Converting a Unique to a Mythic will yield an item for the same slot, fixing a PTR quirk where slot changes could occur, and replacing the earlier PTR idea that Uniques would drop with completely random stats like ordinary items.
