Blizzard probes casino bots as World of Warcraft players destroy them
If youve been wandering around Azeroth of late, especially in any of the bigger cities, youve likely spotted casino bots automated advertising for local gambling. Theyre meant to be against the rules in World of Warcraft, but real-money traders RMTs have been using them to get richer, quicker, and as players blow them up, Blizzard's looking into further preventative measures.
These nuisances can be found standing on wooden boxes, dancing away to pull you in for a gamble or give a winner a moment in the limelight. A compilation on Reddit by user sozbro_ shows several being quite literally exploded. "I can't be online 24/7, and I certainly can't drop infernals on every casino bot myself," they say in the caption of the video.
"Fortunately, this isn't a one-warlock problem." Tom Ellis, senior game producer on World of Warcraft, acknowledged the issue on Twitter: "The casino thing that's vogue right now.
