Blades of the Guardians Sets Digital Release
After debuting in February and becoming a critical and box-office hit, the martial arts epic Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert will be available to stream later this month. Directed by Yuen Woo Ping, the film holds a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes and will arrive on Digital on June 30.
The movie applies wuxia style to the unrelenting chase approach of Mad Max: Fury Road and is based on the comic "Biao Ren" by Xianzhe Xu. Largely an unending battle across the desert, it follows bounty hunter Doa Ma as he escorts the empire’s most wanted man, Zhi Shi Lang, toward Chang’an while warriors hunt them across the land.
The cast spans generations of martial-arts stars, including Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, Yosh Yu, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Max Zhang, and the return of Jet Li after a decade away. Well Go USA released a new trailer to mark the home release and set the physical release for Aug.
