Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are re-releases on PS4 and PS5, not remasters

Don't expect Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 to arrive remastered on PlayStation consoles. As Treyarch works with Iron Galaxy on the releases, Activision has clarified that the originals will be re-releases rather than remasters. Eurogamer notes the ports are being sold as re-releases, not remasters, so next‑gen graphics, new features and sky‑high framerates are likely off the table.

Remaster tags usually imply added modern bells and whistles; as ports, the games should play much as they did on PS3 and Xbox 360. Treyarch has promised that campaign, multiplayer and zombies are included. The bigger question is whether the ports will use the same PS3 server infrastructure and lobbies, which are now infamously subject to hackers and cheaters.
