Bitcoin Struggles to Hold $60,000 as Stocks Rise on Iran Meeting News
Bitcoin (BTC) hovered near $60,000 as bulls struggled to reclaim the level, while US stock indexes pushed higher after a diplomatic development. In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump wrote that Iran had "requested a meeting," which would take place in Doha, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday.
TradingView data showed BTC failing to keep pace with gains in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite. Trading firm QCP Capital warned that oil could still rebound, posing a headwind for risk assets. It noted oil had remained largely stable in the low $70s but that a slower supply recovery could allow significant upside for prices.
WTI crude dropped below $68 per barrel on Friday but had moved back above $70 at the time of writing, and QCP added that US markets' early closure on Friday could leave volatility elevated amid thin liquidity. Market participants described price action as "choppy" and defensive.
