Bitcoin plunged more than 6% after Wednesday’s Wall Street open, slipping below $67,000 for the first time since April 5 and hitting $66,948 on Bitstamp, erasing months of gains as 24-hour cross-crypto liquidations climbed to $1.25 billion. The move stood in contrast to other risk assets as the S&P 500 reached another all-time high.

Trader Rekt Capital said investors were "Macro Risk-Off, fleeing into Stablecoins and moving away from Bitcoin," and sees price aiming for the 50-month exponential moving average at $66,250, with a likely breakdown and continued macro downside. Prediction service Kalshi flagged a return to $50,000, while commentator Exitpump pointed to record open interest and "an insane amount of spot selling," warning it "can end with a big red candle wiping out all the underwater longs" and that prices could fall to the low 60Ks or even mid 50Ks.
