Bill Nighy Joins John Wick Spinoff Caine

The John Wick franchise has grown from a modest action film into a billion-dollar series under stuntman-turned-director Chad Stahelski, reviving Keanu Reeves as a major star. John Wick: Chapter 4 looked like a fitting farewell after a $447.4 million global haul, but the world of the films continues to expand.

Filming is underway in Budapest and Hong Kong on Caine, a sequel/spin-off centered on Donnie Yen's blind assassin. The story follows him after he leaves the High Table and returns to his daughter, only to be pulled back in when Akira seeks revenge for her father's death.

Rina Sawayama will reprise her role, and newcomers Mason Thames and Dacre Montgomery have already joined the cast. Bill Nighy has now signed on to appear in the spin-off as well.

Nighy brings an Oscar-nominated career that ranges from Love Actually to Living, along with notable animated turns in The Wild Robot, The Boy and the Heron, and Rango, and a major franchise role as Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean.
