Beyond Siri: Practical AI features coming to iPhone in iOS 27
Apple’s Siri overhaul grabbed the headlines at WWDC, but the company is also embedding smaller AI features across iOS 27 to make everyday tasks easier. Rather than funneling users into a single assistant, Apple is adding smarts directly into apps people already use.
The features are available in the developer beta, will appear in the public beta soon and are scheduled for general release later this fall. One practical example is bill splitting: take a photo of a receipt and Apple Intelligence extracts items, quantities, tip and total so you can select what you ordered, share the request in Messages and pay with Apple Cash.
A new password-updating tool will identify weak or compromised passwords and securely navigate sites to replace them with stronger credentials without requiring manual steps. Messages will surface one-tap suggestions based on conversation topics — for example, adding a request to Reminders, suggesting the right photos to share or prompting you to add an event to Calendar.
