Betty Gilpin’s 10-Episode R-Rated Drama Has Been a Streaming Staple
Released in 2024, the single-season drama Three Women has quietly been a staple of Starz’s streaming library. The series shot to the top of Starz’ weekly Top 10 on release and has remained in the weekly Top 10 for 588 days; at the time of writing it sits as the 10th most popular series on the service.
Based on Lisa Taddeo’s novel, the 10-episode show centers on writer Gia, who persuades three women to share moments of personal growth. Shailene Woodley plays Gia, with Betty Gilpin as a homemaker, DeWanda Wise as an entrepreneur, and Gabrielle Creevy as a student.
Through its three leads, the series explores different stages of life and attitudes toward sex and relationships in America. Over ten episodes the characters confront trauma and barriers to change: one woman is trapped in a deeply religious, loveless marriage, another struggles with an open relationship, and a student deals with the aftermath of an affair with a married teacher.
