Best electric toothbrushes in the UK – tested
Electric toothbrushes date back to the late 1930s, yet today’s models are feature-packed and often Bluetooth-enabled. Over 18 months I tested 29 brushes from the likes of Oral-B, Philips, Suri, Ordo, Silk’n and Foreo to separate the best from the rest, with my own teeth serving as figurative guinea pigs during the process.
The overall winner is the Laifen Wave Pro. It pairs sonic vibration with oscillation, reaching up to 66,000 BPM while the neck twists up to 60 degrees, and offers three modes (daily, deep and custom) that are adjustable in the app. It includes a pressure sensor and has a listed battery life of about 70 days; replacement heads are £26.99 for six.
Drawbacks noted were a slightly slippery handle, increased dribbliness compared with pure sonic brushes, and a wireless charger that may be less convenient for travel. For value, the Odonta PowerPlus at £29.99 stood out.
