Berserk is back: chapter 384 released today in Japan’s Young Animal magazine and the team behind the series calls it a milestone Miura had been wrestling with for the better part of two decades. After Kentaro Miura’s passing in 2021, Kouji Mori and the apprentices at Studio Gaga took on the task of finishing the manga.

A nine-month gap between chapters worried fans, but the hold-up stemmed more from getting the words and story exactly right than from the artwork. Mori apologized on X and wrote, "This chapter is an episode that Miura agonized over for twenty years," adding that even he, "who heard it from him dozens of times, found it incredibly challenging." Mori says he and Studio Gaga only crossed the finish line after revising the dialogue "countless times" with Akira Shimada, Miura’s longtime editor, a process that highlights how the current team is decoding a departed master’s work from memory and scattered notes.
