Ben Stiller Joins Jake Johnson in Trailer for Apple TV Movie The Dink

Apple TV released the official trailer for The Dink, a comedy that stars Ben Stiller and centers on Jake Johnson. The ensemble also features Mary Steenburgen, Ed Harris, Andy Roddick, Patton Oswalt, Chloe Fineman, Chris Parnell and Aaron Chen. Johnson plays washed-up former tennis prodigy Dusty Boyd, who now coaches unruly children at his father Chuck’s suburban country club and initially backs Chuck’s vendetta against pickleball.

After re-aggravating an old injury, Dusty tries pickleball and, with new partner Candace (Steenburgen), begins to enjoy it. Torn between two worlds, Dusty must confront the ghosts of past athletic failures and his childhood nemesis Andy Roddick, leading to a desperate battle for the future of the club, his father’s affection and his own identity.

The first footage leans into the spirit of Caddyshack, Happy Gilmore and Dodgeball, but with a pickleball twist, and it teases a return to the sillier side of Stiller’s work.
