Bear Brown says Matt Brown died by suicide

Bear Brown confirmed in a TikTok video Saturday that his brother Matt Brown died by suicide, saying Noah Brown pulled Matt’s body from the Okanogan River in Washington and identified him. "I didn’t think he would hurt himself, it does look like the injury is self-inflicted," Bear said, adding that "obviously, the coroner has to look at him and stuff." He urged followers to be respectful to the family, particularly their mother, and to think before posting online.

"Sometimes words can hurt more than fists can and a lot of people left negative comments on Matt’s stuff too," Bear said, noting one of Matt’s last videos addressed negativity in the comments. "You guys should keep in mind that people on the other side of your screens… they’re real people too." Bear said Matt "has been struggling for a long time with alcohol and with drugs," but that the family did not shun him and that Matt often distanced himself from them.
