Bayern Munich near finalising Konrad Laimer contract extension
Bayern Munich look set to finalise a contract extension for Konrad Laimer, with honorary president Uli Hoeness saying "in principle only the signature is missing" after months of negotiations. The Austria international remains focused on World Cup duty in Group J as talks reach their closing stages.
Laimer joined Bayern on a free transfer from Leipzig in 2023, after making 190 appearances and scoring 15 goals for his previous club. For Bayern he has played 136 matches, scoring seven times; last season he featured in 47 games, netting three goals and providing 13 assists across 3,297 minutes.
His honours include two German Champion titles and three German Cup victories. On the international stage he has earned 59 caps and scored seven goals for Austria. In Group J Austria recorded a 3-1 win over Jordan and a 2-0 defeat to Argentina, and now face Algeria on the final matchday, where a victory would guarantee qualification as group runners-up.
