Rumours are growing that FC Bayern Munich are close to signing Ismael Saibari. The chatter gained new weight after an exchange between Bayern coach Vincent Kompany and Saibari following Bayern's 2–1 Champions League win at PSV at the end of January. Both men dismissed suggestions the chat was about a transfer, but Kompany praised the attacker’s performance.

Saibari was born in Terrassa, Spain, to Moroccan parents, was partly raised in Belgium and came through RSC Anderlecht, Kompany’s former youth club. Kompany described him as powerful, chance-creating and a goal threat who also contributes defensively. Signs are mounting that Saibari will soon join the German champions; an agreement with the player appears to be in place and only transfer terms remain to be settled.

PSV’s asking price remains a sticking point and would exceed the club’s previous record fee—the 50 million euros paid for Hirving Lozano in 2019/20.
