Barcelona have asked La Liga, the Spanish Football Federation and the Referee's Technical Committee to take immediate legal action against Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. The club called his recent public comments a grave attack on the integrity and reputation of Spanish football.

Vice-president Rafael Yuste sent a formal letter to La Liga president Javier Tebas, RFEF chief Rafael Louzan and CTA head Francisco Soto. Barcelona demanded an institutional response to remarks Perez made during public appearances on May 12 and May 13, saying the comments were untrue and a severe attack on the honour of the top flight, the refereeing community and the credibility of the professional game in Spain.

The club urged organisers to implement urgent, coordinated legal measures, referencing Perez’s television interview about the Negreira case.
