Barcelona contact Harry Kane's representatives over potential transfer

Barcelona have contacted Harry Kane's representatives as they search for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, who has agreed a deal to join MLS side Chicago Fire. The club plans to revisit the situation once England's participation in the World Cup concludes.

Initial sounds from Kane's camp suggest a deal will be difficult to strike: his representatives essentially shut down the conversation after a phone call, with the player said to be enjoying life in Germany. Barcelona, however, remain prepared to "go all out" if any door is left ajar after the tournament in North America.

Kane is keeping his focus on the World Cup, having found the net three times during the group stage after a season in Munich where he notched 61 goals in 51 games. On his recent milestones he said: "The World Cup is the biggest competition we play as professional footballers, so to get to 11 goals is a proud feeling.
