Backrooms has earned $212 million worldwide, including $135 million from North America, making it the highest-grossing release in A24's history. The film surpasses 2025's Marty Supreme, which finished its theatrical run at $191 million, split roughly evenly between domestic and international markets.

Backrooms reached $212 million in under two weeks and set opening-weekend records for A24 in 41 countries. Internationally it has been strongest in Latin America, where it has taken in $24.2 million to date. With a production budget of about $10 million, Backrooms has already earned more than 20 times its cost; Marty Supreme had a $70 million budget.

Both Backrooms and Obsession are low-budget horror hits released two weeks apart. Obsession was directed by Curry Barker; Backrooms was directed by Kane Parsons, who built on a series of short films he posted to YouTube.
