Avatar live-action season 2 will have seven episodes after one script was cut

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s live-action season 2 will consist of seven episodes after a fully written eighth script was cut, executive producer Christine Boylan said. "Netflix gives very little real estate when it comes to episodes," Boylan added, noting that trimming the episode count forced the team to focus on key themes while still including elements of fan-favourite moments like "The Tales Of Ba Sing Se." The original animated Book Two: Earth runs 18 episodes, each about 24 minutes, while live-action installments have ranged from roughly 45 minutes to over an hour, so the total screen time devoted to Book Two may not differ as much as episode counts suggest.

Still, concerns arose among fans about which plotlines would survive the reduction. Fellow executive producer and director Jabbar Raisani said some episodes were non-negotiable; "Zuko Alone, for example, we knew had to be in there," and he directed that episode for the series.
