Avatar: Fire and Ash is #1 on Disney Plus after one day
James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash landed on Disney Plus on June 24 and, after a single day, topped the service’s viewing charts in the U.S. and worldwide. Third-party tracker FlixPatrol shows the film as the most-watched movie on the platform. The sequel opened in theaters on December 19, 2025, went straight to number one at the box office and went on to make nearly $1.5 billion.
After Avatar: The Way of Water saw Jake and Neytiri suffer the loss of their son, the third installment finds the family confronting grief and battling both humans and rival Na’vi tribes — the aliens vs. humans epic where you always root for the aliens to win. Cameron has said he still has a five-film plan but has hinted he wants to make future entries more efficiently, since each new Avatar is a huge endeavor that takes years and hundreds of millions of dollars — Fire and Ash reportedly cost $350 million to make.
“You know, I’ll be doing some writing. I’ve got a number of projects that I’m cooking,” he said.
