Avatar: Fire and Ash coming to Disney Plus on June 24
Avatar: Fire and Ash will arrive on Disney Plus on June 24, three days earlier than the previously announced June 27. The three-plus-hour film will be available to stream for viewers who missed it in theaters or want to rewatch it at home. James Cameron’s series began with 2009’s Avatar, which earned $2.924 billion at the box office.
The 2022 follow-up, Avatar: The Way of Water, made $2.334 billion, while last year’s Fire and Ash took in $1.485 billion against a $350 to $450 million budget. Avatar 4 and 5 are scheduled for 2029 and 2031, but Cameron has said their fate depends on how well Fire and Ash performs.
He also said that if the follow-ups don’t happen he will hold a press conference to reveal what would have gone down, and that he wants to make Avatar 4 and 5 in "half the time for two-thirds of the cost," a plan that will take about a year to figure out. The film’s CGI is still second to none, though many felt its conflicts and obstacles were overly similar to its predecessor.
