It has been a long five years since Daniel Craig bowed out as James Bond, and fans still do not know who will take up the role next. Craig’s last appearance was in 2021’s No Time to Die, and the search for his successor has yet to produce an announcement. Amazon’s acquisition of the franchise in February 2025 has not sped the process, and as of June 2026 the official hunt for the next Bond has been under way for 16 months.

The character’s exit appears set in stone after Bond succumbs to a heroic death upon learning Mathilde is his daughter, a fact he was already pretty certain of. By contrast, Mike Myers has confirmed that Austin Powers will return in a fourth film, 24 years after Goldmember, with Myers having portrayed the titular character in all three earlier entries.

The Austin Powers series, a parody inspired largely by James Bond, will give audiences a high-profile spy comeback before the next 007 is named.
